Hi! I’m Mackenzie

Dog mom, coffee enthusiast (yes — even sleep consultants drink coffee), proud Swiftie, and a semi-retired, slightly washed-up athlete who still loves a good game day. I’m also a Registered Behaviour Analyst and Certified Behavioural Sleep Practitioner passionate about helping people rediscover what it feels like to be well-rested.

My Story

My path into this work wasn’t a straight line. I started out thinking I’d end up in education — I’ve always loved working with kids and families. But during my undergraduate studies in Psychology, a family friend introduced me to Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and something clicked. I started working as an Instructor Therapist and quickly realized this was more than just a career path — it was a calling.

Over time, I pursued my Master’s in Professional Education (ABA) from the University of Western Ontario, became a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), and later registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. I’ve worked across clinical, educational, and community settings, mentoring teams and supporting children, families, and professionals to create meaningful change through compassionate, evidence-based care.

A significant part of my career has been dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children and their families, particularly those with autism and ADHD. Working closely with this population taught me the importance of meeting each child exactly where they are — recognizing their strengths, understanding their sensory and regulatory needs, and building trust every step of the way. This experience continues to shape how I approach sleep: with flexibility, compassion, and evidence-based strategies tailored to each family’s unique situation.

As my work grew, I started noticing a clear thread: sleep was at the core of so many challenges. When sleep improved, everything else — behaviour, learning, relationships, emotional regulation — began to shift, too. That realization is what led me to pursue additional training as a Certified Behavioural Sleep Practitioner, combining behavioural science with sleep research to help people reclaim their nights and thrive in their days.

Now, through Brighter Days Sleep Consulting, I support adults, families, teens, and workplaces across Canada. My approach is collaborative, realistic, and kind — rooted in science but built around real life. No rigid rules, no guilt, just support that works for you.

Fun Facts:

🐾 I have two pups, Penny and Piper, who are without a doubt the best dogs in the world (I might be a little biased). Piper’s a feisty potcake from St. Lucia who loves to cuddle, and Penny’s a 90lb Doberman–Lab mix who’s convinced she’s a lap dog.

🌊 I’m happiest by the ocean or on a quiet cottage lake — there’s something about the water that makes everything feel slower and softer.

🏀 I played competitive basketball for most of my life, and while an ACL injury took me out early, I’m back playing co-ed rec and loving it.

🎤 I’ve been to six Taylor Swift concerts (including the Eras Tour) and cried at every single one — no regrets.

🌿 I live with Restless Legs Syndrome, so I truly get how frustrating sleep struggles can be — this work is personal to me.

📚 I went to the same elementary school as Tom Cruise (just not at the same time… unfortunately).
